The ‘Milk’ ban: A sour decision for Oatly, and a wake-up call for plant-based food brands As of yesterday, Oatly and other plant-based brand owners can no longer use the word ‘milk’ (or other dairy related terms) in relation to plant-based products in the UK. Dairy industry groups see the decision as protecting consumers and traditional long-established dairy terms. UK Supreme Court hands down landmark Emotional Perception AI decision Today, the UK Supreme Court delivered a landmark judgment addressing the patentability of AI systems. In Emotional Perception AI Ltd v Comptroller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks, the Court has reshaped the legal framework governing the assessment of patent applications for Computer Implemented Inventions in the UK. HLK has another success at the UPC HLK’s client, Establishment Labs, has prevailed in a preliminary objection at the Unified Patent Court.
