James joined HLK soon after graduating in 2007, and qualified as a UK and European Patent Attorney in 2011. In addition to a strong focus on core physics disciplines such as quantum mechanics and electricity and magnetism, James’ degree studies included projects on acoustic to digital signal conversion, traffic flow analysis, and very high energy gamma ray analysis.

James drafts and prosecutes patent applications and advises on IP legal issues as well as infringement and validity of patents for clients in the electronics, telecommunications, imaging and software fields. He engages closely with SMEs, as well as blue-chip corporations. In particular, James works for clients in the semiconductor devices, wireless communication infrastructure, web for machines, and cloud computing industries. The emphasis in his portfolio of work is towards commercial software patenting and telecommunications standards worldwide.
