Alexandra Deacon-Viney

Trainee Trade Mark Attorney

Alex joined Haseltine Lake Kempner in Leeds as a paralegal in July 2018 after completing her law degree at the University of Kent, and spending time on work experience with the team the previous summer. Since September 2018, Alex has been on secondment in the Intellectual Property and Marketing Team at Tesco, developing knowledge on the particular priorities of a FTSE 100 client, and how to truly add value to a client’s business as their advisers.

Whilst on secondment, Alex worked closely on the launch of JACK’S, the Tesco Centenary campaign, developed a trade mark strategy for China, and answering queries across the business regarding trade marks, copyright, designs and marketing. It is this experience that influenced Alex to train as a trade mark attorney. She is looking forward to re-joining private practice and applying her knowledge of the retail and grocery sectors, as well as expanding her horizons in to other sectors.

Outside of work, Alex is a keen cellist, having been principle cellist of her university orchestra, string sinfonia and quartet, travelling to Paris and Toronto to perform.
